Make your website visitor-friendly in 5 easy steps
A lot of times business owners build their websites with a mindset of - this is about me & my services and what I think looks good. While OF COURSE, your website includes info about you & your business, it should honestly be focused on your ideal clients (think about the results of your services & how you solve their problems).
A VERY important way to serve your ideal clients or prospects is to make your website user-friendly!
Ensuring your website is easy to navigate, engaging, and truly working for you is key to reaching your website goals & keeping your bounce rate low!
Here are 5 easy steps that you can take TODAY to make sure your website is more user-friendly for visitors!
#1 Make Your Site Mobile Responsive
I cannot stress this one enough! With over half of website visitors viewing from their cell phones - it’s crucial to have a mobile-friendly site!
(Squarespace does this for you while you design!)
Make sure backgrounds look ok when sized down to a mobile screen.
Ensure text boxes, buttons & images are lined but correctly when viewing on mobile!
Check on your font size & height size to make sure it fits on a smaller screen & visitors are able to read it clearly.
#2 Accessible Contact Info
We want potential clients to be able to contact you easily & without the frustration of searching for your information!
Put this in an obvious place on your site
linked to the main navigation
button in the top corner
include info in the footer of your site
Make sure you link all of your contact info - link to your email when they click it automatically opens a new email, link your phone number so they do not have to copy & paste it into their keypad, etc.
Include a contact form, these forms are great opportunities to collect more information about the inquiring prospect
PRO-TIP: Include the expected wait time for your response!
#3 Make Content “Skimable”
Everything you learned in English class about paragraphs & full sentences - throw it out the window! (except for when you write blogs)
Fragment sentences, quotes & bullet points are your best friends when it comes to website copy!
Keeping your content short & sweet, clear & concise will make visitors more likely to read and understand what you’re offering & what they need from you!
#4 Call to Actions
Your call to actions (CTA for short) are a powerful piece to your website strategy. You do not want users to scroll to any page & ask “what’s next”.
An important piece of determining your call to actions are solidifying your website goals - this is a conversation you need to have with your web designer to create a strategic design that helps you reach those goals!
#5 Site Speed
Your website’s loading speed places a huge role in your conversion, bounce rate & even SEO ranking!
Be sure to check your sites speed, compress large image files, and enable the SSL certificate!
