The Only Tool You Need For Planning AMAZING Content: Part 1

Are you preparing a new website or getting ready for a branding refresh?

Building and designing a website can be an exciting yet overwhelming task. It’s hard to know where to start, what content should go on which page, and how to make sure everything is cohesive. That’s why I created the Website Content Prompt Workbook – a comprehensive guide that helps business owners plan their Squarespace website content simply and efficiently!

In this two-part blog series, I will introduce the workbook, explain what it is (and what it isn't), dive into how to use it effectively, and walk you through the categories. In other words, I’ll give you everything you need to jump in and start planning content that converts.

Let's kick this off by answering the question, “What is it?”

What It Isn't

But first… what it isn’t.

  1. The Website Content Prompt Workbook isn't a one-size-fits-all guide.

  2. It isn't designed to take the place of actual copywriting.

  3. It isn’t a guide to helping you write better content–although better content is one of the results you'll get by filling it out!

What It Is

So, if the workbook isn't meant to provide a comprehensive list of content best practices or teach you how to write excellent copy, then what is it?

It's a tool that allows you to plan your website structure and content in an organized way and a springboard for your ideas, brand, and tone.

It covers different pages your website needs and tips for what to include on each page. It also contains a list of additional sections you want on your website, such as testimonials, courses, or a client portal. There's even a Page Navigation Brainstorm, so you can fine-tune your website navigation and let your web designer know exactly what you're looking for.

In short, the Squarespace Website Content Prompt Workbook makes planning website content more manageable by providing prompts for what content your site CAN have. Then, when it comes time to create the content, you have a map to guide you, your website designer, or your copywriter in writing content that fits your brand.

Why Use It

As a business owner, every minute of your time is precious. That's the number one reason this workbook is for you.

The key benefit to using this workbook is that it saves you time and energy. Instead of spending hours figuring out what pages you need and what content should go on each page, you have everything laid out in one document. And when you finish, you'll have an easy-to-follow system that your website designer will love (check out Part 2 for more on this!).

Another great thing about the workbook is that it's tailored specifically to Squarespace websites, so you don’t need to worry about whether or not something will work with your chosen platform. It covers essential pages (such as About Me, Services, etc.) and optional content that may be more specific to your industry (like a shop, announcement bar, promotional pop-ups, etc.).

And finally, the workbook is full of tips and information, making it easy for anyone to use. I added helpful definitions and descriptions, so you know just what to include and where. You'll also find notes with expert tips, product or service recommendation prompts for content details, and more!
